Anthony Joshua, undisputed IBF-WBA Champion in a scintillating performance
Anthony Joshua AJ made history last night as he was crowned the IBF-WBA heavyweight champion of the world with 19 knock outs to his credit.
“I win, it’s not complicated. This isn’t rocket science. This is just a fight. Let’s strip it right back to what it is – a young lion, ferocious, hungry, very determined.” These were words Joshua in a press conference last Thursday.
“I left no stone unturned in training camp. We do talk about experience,
but even when I was fighting guys with lesser experience I was preparing
for this. I’ve prepared since day one for this.” These were clear words from AJ.
Before the fight AJ received so many calls but the one most striking was the word of encouragement received from the popular Hip hop rapper, producer and director Dr. Dre . He called AJ one of his favorite star. This glamoured his night to clinching the championship title. It was an incredible night for the young star.
Another video message came from Tyson Fury where he encouraged and tipped AJ to winning the bout but ended his message by saying “… May the best man win”.
The full message from Tyson Fury reads; “Just wanna say goodluck tonight pal. Do what’s necessary on this Ukranian …Knock him … I wish you all luck in the world. Let make the biggest fight in British boxing history … The real biggest fight. You know how it is …..God bless you both. I hope you both make it in the ring save and sound to your families. Good luck boys. All the best. May the best man win.”
On Saturday night in Las Vegas AJ surprised the world by proving he is the world’s best when it comes to boxing.
In one of the rounds Klitschko at some point knocked down AJ at the sixth round, AJ did not give up. But when his opportunity came at the 11th round he caught Klitschko with a amazing uppercut. This threw Klitschko off balance. He was disoriented and lost concentration. It became the end and reign of Klitschko in the boxing arena.
What a great fight it was for these two greats. In deed they are both champions.
While interviewed after the fight, AJ leaked a secret by telling the world that one of his favourite meal is pounded-yam, eba and Egusi soup.
However, a twitter follower reacted at the way nigerians are claiming Anthony Joshua because of his success. The post of the follower reads;
“Anthony Joshua wanted to box for Nigeria; he was rebuffed. He went back to UK, & was further developed there. Today we are claiming him.”
Another responded by tweeting “If Anthony Joshua grew up in Nigeria, he would have been a frustrated sports man. Celebrate him but remember that he is not yours”.
It is very clear everyone wants to identify with success but not everyone wants you to succeed, what a shame!
Consequently, Anthony Joshua has put his name down as the IBF-WBA Champion of the World with none to contest.
