Android creator ‘Andy Rubin‘ gives birth to Essential PH-1 Phone
Andy Rubin the man who gets the credit for inventing android has unveiled an android phone of his own called PH-1 under a company called Essential.
According to Rubin people were going to ask him a lot of questions why he started the company and so on…
His response reads; “… the real reason is because of what happened during a night out with an old friend of mine. As the night went on we inevitably began talking about what we didn’t like about the current state of technology. Less and less choice. More and more unnecessary features cluttering our lives. An increasing sea of products that didn’t work with one another…
And just when I was about to drop another criticism it hit me: I am partly responsible for all of this.
For all the good Android has done to help bring technology to nearly everyone, it has also helped create this weird new world where people are forced to fight with the very technology that was supposed to simplify their lives. Was this what we had intended? Was this the best we could do?”
He added ” I left that night reflecting deeply on what was great and what was frustrating with the current state of technology today. After another long talk with my friend we decided that I needed to start a new kind of company using 21st century methods to build products for the way people want to live in the 21st century.
The result is Essential, and that is what we believe.”
Rubin highlighted six principles Essential uses as a company to attract some of the best and brightest people from all over the world.
PH-1 has some great features which makes it outstanding. It is nearly a complete all screen with 5.7 inch edge-to-edge display, with 8-MP front-facing camera, two 13-MP rear cameras, fingerprint sensor and no branding. It also has magnetic connectors for accessories like a 360-degree camera and dock.
There is also magnetic wireless accessories which powers the phone. The Essential Phone PH-1 is expertly crafted using titanium and ceramic, unlike most phones made of aluminum, titanium doesn’t scratch, dent, or bend.
Inside, the PH-1 runs a qualcomm snapdragon 835 processor and has 128GB of storage. Such a phone won’t come cheap though. No wonder it’s very expensive.
It won’t be a surprise when companies start producing phones which equates the cost of getting a car.
Interestingly there is no port for microSD card, no 3.5-mm headphone jack, no mention of being waterproof. The PH-1 comes in four colours; black, grey, white and dark-green.
The PH-1 will first ship in the US with no official release date set.
Essential PH-1 phone is available for pre-order at $699 an equivalent of 220,010.25 naira or with the 360-degree camera for $749.
