Breaking News -RESIDENT DOCTORS OF UUTH SUSPENDS STRIKE ACTION
Breaking News!!! The lingering strike actions by Resident Doctors of the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital is suspended.
The 11 weeks long strike action is suspended following peaceful negotiations and intervention by Akwa Ibom State Government and other stakeholders on the way forward.
The strike which has crippled activities in the hospital for many months now created lots of vacuum as most patients had to cope with frequent visitations to the hospital to be attended to by few consultant Doctors left to do the job. While other patients had to wait hours or days to see the doctor.
Reacting to the strike suspension, the Chairman Resident Doctors Association UUTH, Dr. Christian Adeneye said the suspension will give room for further negotiations.
This includes payment of benefits and entitlements owed the doctors for some months now.
Dr. Adeneye stressed that the union is giving the hospital weeks to meet their demands or the reverse back the strike action.
