Herdsmen on rampage at the farm of Olu Falae

People suspected to be herdsmen by the Nigerian Police have attacked the farm of Chief Olu Falae, the former secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria.

The Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Gbenga Adeyanju made this known to Orange FM in a broadcast. He said men of the Police Force were immediately deployed to the place o f the scene as soon as the information got to him.

Chief Falae Personal Assistant, Captain Moshood Raji, said the attackers did not steal anything but burnt five hectares oil palm plantation. He said no worker was present at the time of the incidence.

Adeyanju while making an appealed said people should not panic as the issue is over exaggerated on social media.

According to Adeyanju, the Police and Falae are already in discussion on the issue while investigation is on-going to arrest the hoodlums.

Recall in September 2015, herdsmen kidnapped Chief Falae for three days before his release after President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered the Inspector- General of Police to find and rescue the Elder Statesman.

Chief Falae contested the 1999 presidential election but lost to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Hmm! Could this a political attack or another attack from the Fulani herdsmen?

Fulani herdsmen must pay N5,000 – Governor Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has ordered Fulani herdsmen operating in the south western states of Nigeria to register with N5,000 in their host communities for easy identification and location.

According to Punch newspaper, the governor gave the directive after the
recent death of a woman in Orin Ekiti who was reportedly murdered by the suspected Fulani herdsmen.

This was made public during “peace meetings” organised by Fayose in Ado Ekiti with Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, farmers, local hunters, security agencies and representatives from Tiv community.

In a statement, the governor stressed that the Fulani’s must accept responsibility to ensure that none of his peoples’ farms are destroyed by herdsmen any longer. None of Ekiti people must be killed by the Fulani herdsmen either by strangers or those among them.

He added that he will use the law to fight their leader if any killing or destruction of people’s farms in that area continues.

Governor Fayose while addressing the people in attendance called on the Federal government to be firm, when actions are taken against these mindless individuals. He insist the killings must stop, it is not in the interest of Nigeria as ordinary Nigerians can not carry AK47 or pump action guns.

Ben Bruce: Charlyboy reacts over the senator’s statement

The controversial Charles Oputa popularly known as Charlyboy has come up with another of his tweet.

This time around it concerns tweets by one of Nigeria’s serving Senator Ben Bruce on security issues and the leadership of Nigeria.

While addressing the issue emanated from the herdsmen attack on the people of Benue State, security status of the country and Buhari’s nonchalant attitude on leadership. He lamented in pain over Buhari’s incompetence in ruling Nigeria and that urgent action should be taken before it gets out of hand.

Some of the excerpts reads; “Nigeria is becoming a lawless country where there is no consequence for bad behaviour!”

“I’m disgusted to find pregnant women with slit stomachs & unborn babies removed. If these herdsmen r allowed to rampage d way they are, then frankly speaking, they are a terrorist organization”

He went on to say “If the security agencies cannot do their job, then they must be fired. ”

“People are being killed. We are becoming a barbaric Nation. The Executive should speak today and explain to Nigerians what is happening in this country.”

“We either face this problem or everybody SHUT UP and RESIGN from public office.”

After reading Ben Bruce’s tweets Charlyboy had this to say;

“Make una help me tell Ben Bruce,
I love his yarns about the injustices going on in this country.
But as him come mention Saraki as a substitute for Buhari in one of his latest tweets, my prick fall.
Na dem dem.”

ben bruce

Haha! How on earth does Ben Bruce’s tweet connects with Charlyboy’s manhood? Maybe the senator was just making common sense.

Fulani herdsmen: Nigeria to open cattle colonies next week

Fulani herdsmen: Nigeria to open cattle colonies next week

Federal Government says it will start building cattle colonies for fulani herdsmen from next week in states that have indicated interest.

This was made public by the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Augu Ogbeh on Friday in Kaduna State.

Ogbeh said the National Economic Council delegated a 10-member committee with the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo including nine governors to be in charge of the cattle colonies in their various states.

Meanwhile open grazing had caused chaos in Benue State where the Fulani herdsmen killed hundreds of people including pregnant women with their unborn babies and the President is nonchalant on the issue.

While addressing newsmen Ogbeh said people are not in support of the idea proposed by the federal government as there are fears that their lands will be assigned to the fulani herdsmen. Ogbeh believes cattle colonies will resolve the issue of open grazing.

According to ogbeh the plan is to provide field where cattle will be fed and monitored in an environment without fight. Though it is reported that Nigeria has about 19.7 million cows and it is important to the country’s GDP.

Hmm! What is the problem with federal government of Nigeria? What is wrong with sambisa forest? Can’t the Federal Government assign sambisa forest to the herdsmen for cattle rearing? It’s obvious there is a foul play by the Nigerian government on this issue.

Police weird actions undergoes criticism all over the world

Police weird actions undergoes criticism all over the world

Police is becoming a nuisance in so many parts of the world and people are busy questioning their integrity in saving lives and properties.

Recently the actions of police brutality on some youths in Nigeria is
creating so much tension in the police force while a sect of the police have been accused of extorting money  from innocent people and other vices.

Some people still believe though there might be some bad eggs in the unit, the police force needs to be reformed to prevent it from carrying out extra judicious activities.

Meanwhile on Thursday another incident was recorded where an 11-year-old girl at gunpoint was handcuffed and put in the back of a cruiser by Grand Rapids police, Michigan.

According to reports, the girl was leaving her Grand Rapids home to a store when police came to her home looking for the girl’s 40-year-old aunt, who was suspected of stabbing a relative nearby but was not found.

Surprisingly Grand Rapids police detained the girl and two other women, including the girl’s mother, as they exited the house. Officers ordered the 11-year old to come down from the porch with her hands up as reported by the girl’s mother. This is brutality of the highest order!

“The whole time they are telling her to come down, I’m telling them, ‘She’s 11 years old. That’s my daughter. Don’t cuff her,” these were the words of the girl’s mother.

So sad! the little girl has been forced to live in fear as she shares her own side of the story with a television station.

“It made me feel scared and it made me feel like I did something wrong. I’m afraid to open or go near my back door because of what happened.”

Obviously the police and its various departments needs total reformation to serve people better since the police was meant to be our friend.

The protesters shutdown the adjourning streets to the market, blocking the movement of vehicles.

There is no information leading to the survival of the victim. The police had declined commenting on the incident but promised to issue a statement.

Although calm has returned to the area, the aggrieved drivers want the FCT Minister to look into the matter.

Peace Corps wins N2bn suit filed against the Nigerian Police Force

The Peace Corps of Nigeria (PCN) on Thursday won its N2bn Human Rights suit filed against the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, the Nigerian Police Force and 4 others.

Meanwhile the presiding Judge, Hon. Justice Gabriel Kolawole had gaven a 7-day ultimatum that the National Headquarters of the Corps located at No 57 Iya Abubakar Crescent, off Alex Ekwueme way, opposite Jabi Lake, Jabi, Abuja, be unsealed.

Recall that Nigerian Police sealed the Peace Corps office on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 where the National Commandant of the Corps, Amb (Dr.) Dickson Akoh and 49 others were arrested. It was reportedly an attack carried out in conjunction with operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS and the Nigerian Army.

On Wednesday, March 1, 2017, police said it raided the Corps headquarters because the security outfit was a threat to national security.

However, the Corps Commandant was released on Thursday, March 2, 2017 in which the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris said the organisation would be charged to court.

Now the outcome of the ruling is in favor of the Peace Corps of Nigeria, what becomes the fate of the Nigerian Police?  Will the police pay the fine?

LAS VEGAS gunfire threatens people from attending social events

LAS VEGAS gunfire threatens people from attending social events

A lone gunman at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas shut at a crowd of 22,000 at the country music festival. New York Times reported that 59 people were killed while more than 520 injured.

Thousands of concert spectators found themselves as targets, many lay flat, having no idea were the gunfire gutted from.

A reporter in NY Times Thomas Gibbons-Neff who served in the US as a military man for 4 years analysed the gunfire as a weapon that was setup automatically, maybe modified for some reasons. He said it was an uninterrupted chain of gunfire, an automated type of gun. Hmm! the gunfire man must be a lunatic. As at the time of this report the gunfire man has not been arrested.

The question is, ‘What is  happening in America’? As it stands this unforeseen has sent a wrong signal to fun loving people around the world.

An interview with concert goers has revealed that the scene has put so much fears on the minds of concert attendees at large.

In America this could be a very bad omen for musicians who make their living out of tours and concerts. This seems to be heart breaking to so many musicians around the globe.

Ogba Zoo attack: We are on top of security situation says Obaseki

In reacting to the Ogba Zoo attack, Governor Obaseki has assured the Edo people and Nigerians that his administration is on top of the security situation in the state.

Obaseki gave the assurance after an emergency meeting with security agencies at the Government House in Benin City.

He condemned the horrific killings of 3 policemen and abducted Chief Executive of “Ogba Zoological Garden and Nature Park”, Andy Osa Enahire, on Sunday in Benin City.

In his statement “Our hearts are with the families of the slain police officers and we promise to deploy all the resources at our disposal to ensure Mr Ehanire returns to his family in the shortest time possible, and unhurt, …”

“When the Edo State Government received intelligence report on the kidnap of Mr. Osa Ehanire, we immediately contacted the relevant security agencies to do all within their powers to secure his release.”

Recall that a statement was published immediate after the incidence on Sunday and it reads;

The management of Ogba Zoo and Nature Park in Benin closed to a rude shock this evening as their proprietor and brother of Senator Daisy Ehanire Danjuma, Mr Andy Danjuma was violently kidnapped.

Sen Daisy Danjuma’s brother was kidnapped in Benin City and two policemen attached to him are feared dead from gun exchange from the kidnappers.

Benin City is another wild place in Edo State where crime rate is extremely high. The government should really pay attention to security in this area.

IPOB commends south-east senators and its leadership for speaking out

IPOB commends south-east senators and its leadership for speaking out

IPOB has commended the south-east senators and its leadership for standing firm to condemn the tagging of IPOB by the Nigerian government and its judiciary as a terrorist group.

This was made public by its media and publicity secretary Emma Powerful in a statement published on Friday.

Recall that few days ago, the federal government of Nigeria and its judiciary had declared IPOB a terrorist group and had deployed its army for Operation Python Dance II (Egwu Eke Ebo).

According to Powerful there would have been mass execution of innocent IPOB members under the cover of Operation Python Dance II but it came to a halt by the intervention of the south-east senators and the senate president.

“… South East lawmakers refused to be cowed into submission to tag IPOB under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as a terrorist and unlawful organisation should be applauded by all lovers of freedom around the world. It represents the triumph of freedom of speech and association over tyranny, brute force and dictatorial tendencies.”

“We strongly urge the National Assembly to investigate the activities of IPOB thoroughly because we have nothing to fear. They should also look into the recent killings of unarmed civilian populations in Afaraukwu Umuahia and Aba in the ongoing military occupation of Biafraland.”

“We are also calling on United Nation UN, European Union EU, African Union AU, ECOWAS, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, USA, Israel, Russia, Britain, Germany, France, and other relevant human rights to probe IPOB and thoroughly investigate the ongoing killings of unarmed and innocent civilians and the military siege of Afaraukwu Ibeku in Umuahia Abia State by the Nigerian Government and her security operatives especially the Army and Police.”

Consequently there has been no reaction from federal government in objection to the statement made by the lawmakers. This shows there is a clear separation of power in Nigeria’s democracy.
