Global Peace and Rescue Initiative GOPRI gives Amnesty International 24hrs to leave Nigeria
A group called Global Peace and Rescue Initiative GOPRI has given Amnesty International AI 24 hours to stop its operation in Nigeria and to flee from the country.
The Group said this on Monday when about 200 protesters blocked the Abuja Office of Amnesty International.
GOPRI said if the human right group refuses to kick them out of the country, they will embark on a 5 days warning protest tagged “Occupy Amnesty International”.
The Executive Director GOPRI, Melvin Ejeh told newsmen that if at the expiration of 5 days, Amnesty International does not leave, they will force them out.
According to Ejeh, well respected organizations including the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Global Amnesty Watch have condemned the recent report by Amnesty International which alleged human rights abuses by Nigerian security agencies against arrested Boko Haram suspects.
However, he said they are using this opportunity to call other Nigerians to join force with GOPRI to kick Amnesty International out of the country before it degenerates to real war.
