Ronaldo wins Ballon d’Or 2016 for the Fourth Time
Cristiano Ronaldo has conquered without any shadow of doubt the likes of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann to claim his fourth Ballon d’Or.
The sensational Portuguese, who previously lifted the prestigious award 3 times, embraces success by winning the Champions League with Real Madrid before joining his team to win the European Championship in France.
Messi, who boasts a record five Ballons d’Or but finished second this time out, helped Barcelona win a domestic double last season but his dream of leading Argentina to a major international was a big blow loosing to Chile in the final of the Copa America, which left him with no chance of winning the Ballons d’Or ahead this year.
As for third-placed Griezmann, the 24-year-old attacker fired both Atletico Madrid and France to the finals of the Champions League and Euro 2016, respectively. Unfortunately he suffered defeat on both occasions.
Ronaldo, on the contrary, kept winning and scoring goals match after match. More so, the dude had been very impressive in the eyes of his team mates, coach, country and the world at large.
This is what he said after receiving the prestigious award for the fourth time;
Never thought in my mind that I would win the Golden Ball four times. Am pleased. I feel so proud and happy.
I have the opportunity to thank all of my team-mates, the national team, Real Madrid, all of the people and players who helped me to win this individual award.
Wow! Congratulations to a sensational footballer.
