Taxi drivers on rampage over the shooting at a colleague in Abuja
Taxi drivers created tension on Wednesday, when they took to the streets protesting against the shooting at a colleague in Abuja.
According to an eyewitness, the taxi drivers prevented movement in and out of Wuse market, making commuters and businesses stranded.
There has been no clear reason for the gunshot, but the protesting drivers suggest that the shooting was the height of a series of oppression by security men.
The protesters shutdown the adjourning streets to the market, blocking the movement of vehicles.
There is no information leading to the survival of the victim. The police had declined commenting on the incident but promised to issue a statement.
Although calm has returned to the area, the aggrieved drivers want the FCT Minister to look into the matter.
